They Go too Far – Watch Out for Leaders who Have a Book or a Word for Every Aspect of Your Life

A Cry For Justice

1 Corinthians 4:3-6 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. (4) For I am not aware of anything against myself, but I am not thereby acquitted. It is the Lord who judges me. (5) Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God. Hey there brother,
I agree with the principle given here about being aware of those who market their views as “God’s Word” on every subject beyond what Scripture has to say…we need to be careful of not confusing advice as the Word…but a sentence in that post was very serious: “I am keeping these for now as we research his books for false teaching, specifically his works-based false gospel.”
Do you think John Piper preaches a false Gospel? Just curious. Thanks for all you share on your blog in general!

    • John Piper is, what is now called, a “New Calvinist”. He believes in a continuationism-based Gospel, meaning one that necessarily includes prophesy, tongues, etc. What we must take from that is if one is not speaking some gibberish (today’s tongues) then he may not be saved. As you know, there is none of this in the Bible.
John Piper has a wealth of wonderful teachings. It is sad they are clouded over by his extra-Biblical beliefs.
